Hunt down the rarest movies of the 1940s

The 1940s went through the war: propaganda films, film noir, then Italian neorealism. Cinema grew darker and more serious. A decade rich in classics, which our score measures only against films of their own time.

Reelics holds 309 movies of the 1940s, from 1940 to 1949, and every one of them is a card to collect. Casablanca (1943) leads the ranking, with a card at the Masterpiece level. At the top of the pyramid: one Masterpiece card and 12 Must-See cards, only 4.2% of all movies of the 1940s. Now Showing cards, the easiest to pull, are only 55% of the total: cult classics weigh heavily here. No single rating here: the rank comes from our rarity score, which blends rating, votes, worldwide reach and release era, so classics are not buried under recent releases.
